Viability Scan From 6+ weeks Scan Duration: 10 minutes Method: Transabdominal (and Transvaginal if required) Our Viability Scan is typically the first ultrasound performed after confirming your pregnancy. Please wait at least two weeks after your first positive test, ensuring you're at least 6 weeks along. This allows us to accurately assess the progression of your pregnancy. Scanning earlier may result in inconclusive viability which can cause you unnecessary worry. It is your responsibility to ensure you follow the recommended timeframe. This scan includes transvaginal ultrasound if required. You can choose to only have the transabdominal method if you prefer, however we may not be able to confirm viability this way. Please arrive with a full bladder as we will start the scan Transabdominally. If your Sonographer feels a transvaginal scan would be beneficial, this will be discussed with you at your scan. What the Scan Includes: ★ Confirmation of pregnancy ★ Determination of pregnancy location ★ Assessment of the ovaries and pelvic area ★ Visualization of the heartbeat (including a video clip) ★ Assessment of the number of babies ★ Estimation of gestational age and due date (this may adjust slightly after your NHS scan) ★ Printed report with measurements and estimated due date ★ Two thermal prints ★ All photos sent electronically ★ Referral to appropriate services if any concerns are identified
